George Charles Ruddock Festing (1800 - August 30, 1857) was born around 1800 in Andover, Hampshire. He received his early education locally at Andover Grammar School (also recorded as Andover School). Continuing his academic path to higher education, he was admitted to St John’s College, Cambridge, on October 7, 1817, matriculated in January 1818, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1822, later proceeding to a Master of Arts (MA) in 1825. During his time at Cambridge, he was associated as a member of the Cambridge Apostles.

Transitioning into a lifelong vocation within the church, Festing was ordained as a deacon in Bristol on March 4, 1821, and was ordained as a priest later that same year. His early ecclesiastical duties included serving as a curate in Marden, Wiltshire, and in Studland, Dorset, beginning in 1821. He subsequently took on long-standing leadership positions within parishes, holding the role of perpetual curate at Witham Friary, Somerset, from 1823 until 1857, and serving concurrently as the vicar of St Paul's-by-Penzance, Cornwall, from 1827 until 1857.

Regarding any private aspects of his personal life, such as potential LGBTQ links, there is no information available in the provided context. Festing passed away on August 30, 1857, in Warminster, Wiltshire.
